Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect at my first HOLD FAST visit?

You can expect a one-on-one, 60 minute visit where your clinician will take the time to listen to your medical history and goals. This is followed by a comprehensive movement assessment and evaluation of your pain or injury. We will also perform video analysis of sport specific movements such as squats, overhead pressing, or running. We end the session by working together to create a customized program to improve your symptoms and address the underlying cause(s) of your pain.

Where is the HOLD FAST office located?

HOLD FAST is located inside the Ft. Meigs CrossFit building (13000 Eckel Junction Rd in Perrysburg).

  • Enter through the door with the HOLD FAST sign on it to the right of the garage door.

  • Turn right, walk past the desk and seating area

  • Go through a second door and up the stairs to the left

  •  HOLD FAST is the first door on the right

    • If the door is closed and the ‘In Session’ sign is posted, please feel free to wait on the landing or downstairs in the seating area until your scheduled appointment time.

Where can I park?

There is a parking lot located outside the Ft. Meigs CrossFit building next to the yellow Wimsatt sign.

What should I wear and bring?

Comfortable workout clothes (please avoid loose fitting pants or bring shorts)

  • Please wear a different colored shirt than shorts/tights for video analysis

  • Training/running shoes (though most of the first appointment is done barefoot)

  • Water bottled (filled)

  • A tank/shirt that allows us to see your shoulder blades (men may remove their shirts and women may wear a racerback sports bra if they are comfortable)

Can I exercise before my appointment?

Please avoid exercise for at least 3 hours prior to your FIRST appointment.

  • Feel free to exercise prior to FOLLOW UP visits unless otherwise instructed.

Can I keep exercising while I rehab my injury?

YES! Most patients will be encouraged to continue exercising during their recovery. The worst thing we can do while injured is allow ourselves to become deconditioned. Depending on the severity and duration of the injury some activity modifications may be recommended.

What is the difference between an Athletic Trainer and a Personal Trainer?

Athletic Training and Personal Training are very different.  Athletic Trainers are recognized by the American Medical Association as Allied Healthcare Professionals whose education follows a medical model.

  1. Athletic Trainers must graduate from an accredited university or college program (now a required Masters degree), pass a national board examination, and earn 50 continuing education units every 2 years to maintain their certification.  Most states, including Ohio, also require additional licensure.

  2. Athletic Trainers provide

    1. Injury prevention

    2. Wellness promotion and education

    3. Emergent injury care

    4. Examination and clinical diagnosis

    5. Therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries

Can I use my Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA)?

Yes!

Do I need to see my doctor for a referral before scheduling with HOLD FAST?

Nope. If you have an injury or pain you can come straight to us. We always do a free 15 minute phone consultation to make sure we can help and make sure that what we do is what you’re looking for.

Are there showers available?

There is one shower available in one of the restrooms but you must bring your own towels and supplies.
